Youth are our future not only for our country but for western civilization. We are in the cycle of extremes with the 1960’s generation pushing aside all what grandmother tried to teach us and have replaced it with social humanism allowing the individual to be and act according to his own dictates. Any moral code of ethics that even date back to ancient Egyptian times has been replaced with one’s freedom to express his uniqueness.
Lacking a moral compass is like a rudderless sailboat shifting with the wind. When the fog and mist subsides one finds himself circulating aimlessly. Reaching goals, becoming a success in life will only be a temporary condition if the foundation is not properly formed. We see this today with our youth who are not prepared to live within our changing world. They have not been able to develop any sense of social consciousness built on respect and decency of the human being. Many remind us of those tawdry boys from Lord of the Flies struggling to survive in a world of their making.
Manners matter and we are seeing college graduates enrolling in etiquette classes in record numbers for academia as well as parents themselves lacked this knowledge. Being a genius in your field of study is not a guarantee of success in the marketplace. Communication skills and basic decent human courtesies are paramount for success. These attributes and skills need to be taught to our children and with practice they will become second nature to them.
Manners build confidence and respect for others. Respect fosters positive social interaction. Kindness is “in”, rude behavior is “out”. The basic value of every child whether they are a member of a gang or the new student to the class, wants to be respected and accepted. Character based on moral principles of decency and respect will provide direction for the child and build a secure foundation that will weather any storm.
Beverly Hills Manners™ along with guidance from leading educators has assembled intriguing and fun-filled programs for children. Classes are small to provide interaction and practice. All areas of etiquette are thoroughly covered. Classes are taught in Los Angeles, New York and London, England.

Introductory Course at McCormick & Schmick’s
This introductory class provides an overview into the world of manners and is full of interaction and practice for your child. Children will be instructed in all aspects of etiquette and protocol while developing fundamental character-building traits such as respect, compassion and common courtesies.
In addition to the instruction, a formal dining tutorial portion will be taught covering all rules of table and dining etiquette. Children will learn how to set a basic table, the proper way to use their utensils, how to manage specific types of foods and beverages, and how to initiate and participate in conversation during an actual 5 course meal.
- “Museum Manners” at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art
“Museum Manners” combines museum etiquette with
a one hour art appreciation tour presented by Quick Culture and
designed just for kids at LACMA. Following the art appreciation
tour, children are escorted to the Pentimento Café for
a complete review of table and dining manners followed by a 5-course
dining tutorial prepared by Patina Catering. Children are prepared
for their museum experience through an introduction to museum
manners including: appropriate attire, voice level, pacing, self-guided
tours, tours with docents (tour guides), and the no touch policy. For
children ages 7-12.
- “A Smart Girls Guide to Manners” Sponsored by American Girl Place, Los Angeles
In this day-long class, girls will learn what to do when they find themselves in sticky situations. They will practice the proper way to make introductions and greetings, get tips on table manners (like which fork to use for which course) and learn some pointers for writing delightful letters and heartfelt thank-you notes. Then girls will use their dining etiquette over lunch in the Café.
- School Enrichment Programs
Enrichment classes are held over the course of a 6-8 week period or on a one-time basis. The classes are a confidence builder and provide your child with the tools and skills necessary to overcome their shyness in any situation. They will even develop conversational skills and perhaps most importantly listening skills! At the end of the session children receive a Certificate of Completion.

- “Manners Camp USA”
Our youth needs to be able to distinguish the difference between reality and the shock and awe of MTV and their pop culture. Welcome to this one week etiquette camp for children ages 8 – 12. The mornings will be filled with etiquette training to be followed each day with a tutorial lunch. The afternoons will be fun- filled with excursions to museums, concerts, even Disneyland as well as lessons in golf, tennis, sailing, horseback riding (English instruction), swimming, and red- cross life saving skills plus a component on ballroom dancing! The goal of this camp in addition to the etiquette learned will be to begin laying the foundation for the development of moral character within our youth.
Each day the child will have practice and instruction on table etiquette during the lunch hour. Following the lunch they will participate in the outside activities of instruction. On the fifth day there will be a formal dinner with parents where the children will participate in a formal presentation and will receive a Certificate of Completion. - Private Tutorial
Private tutorial training programs are available to both children and adults. Private instruction is offered in order to meet the scheduling needs of our clients. A needs assessment is taken from which a custom developed program is constructed.
In development is an online study course with instructor where the student will be in contact with a teacher and given lessons and a program of study in which to complete. This type of training, in addition to the purchase of our online interactive course, may be something to consider for those who wish a more independent style of instruction.
